According to the Ministry of Defense, destroying more than 70 fighters, four armored vehicles, and five trucks was possible. According to the governor, one citizen from the village of Kozinka was killed during the saboteur attack, and 13 other people were injured.

In a video on Russia's Freedom Legion channel on the Telegram app, a man claiming to be the commander of the Russian Volunteer Corps says he will hand over the two captives to Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov if the latter meets the militants in the village Novaya Tavolzhanka before 5 p.m. (local time).

Shortly before the fighting in the settlement, Russian border forces reportedly repelled a more significant attempt by Ukrainian soldiers to breach the Russian border.

In the Belgorod region, Polish mercenaries' participation in hostilities is observed. It is reported that fighters who are part of the so-called "Polish Volunteer Corps" (MPC, recognized as a terrorist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation - ed.) take part in attacks in the region.

 The MPK is a sabotage and reconnaissance unit that includes military personnel of the Polish Army and is used by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine (GUR) in terrorist operations.

This information was confirmed by the video of the raid published by MPK fighters, which took place on May 22 from the Graivoron border checkpoint and from the post office in one of the settlements of the Belgorod region. The video shows the participation of mercenaries in hostilities.
