Ukraine, Germany, and Poland, significant preparations for a general war in Europe

The picture is not accurate. Thursday, June 8, 2023. There is tension, there is war, there are willing ones. At the same time, there is no reaction from the citizens of all states. A group of NATO countries wants to send "here and now" military forces to Ukraine.

They doubt the effectiveness of the American strategy - Anders Fogh Rasmussen's warning a few hours after NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg's statement.

Germany is preparing the most significant military exercise with the "look" in Moscow with the participation of more than 250 warplanes, mainly from the United States of America.

A group of NATO countries, led by Poland, Britain, Finland, and the Baltic states, may be willing to send troops to Ukraine if member states, including the US, do not provide tangible security guarantees to Kyiv at the summit of the alliance in Vilnius, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen, an official adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has been touring Europe and the US ahead of the crucial summit on July 11, 2023.

He also warned that even if a group of states provides Ukraine with security guarantees, others will not allow the issue of Ukraine's future NATO membership to remain off the agenda in Vilnius.

He made his remarks as current NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said the issue of security guarantees would be on the agenda in Vilnius but added that NATO - under Article 5 of the Washington Treaty - provides full security guarantees only to full members.

Why; Why do they think that the American strategy can lead to the defeat of Ukraine, and then these countries will be exposed to the Russian "hunger for revenge" since the help they have given Ukraine has led to the death of thousands of Russians.

And they want to send military forces to prevent - as they believe - the Ukrainian defeat, but also to defeat the Russians on the Ukrainian field and not have to fight inside their countries, as they think will indeed happen if they do not send an army inside now in Ukraine.

Rasmussen said: "If NATO cannot agree on a clear way forward for Ukraine, there is a clear possibility that some countries will take action individually. We know that Poland is very committed to providing concrete assistance to Ukraine.

And I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Poland becoming even more involved in this framework nationally and the Baltic countries following suit, including the case of troops on the ground.

The Poles should consider stepping in and forming a coalition of the willing if Ukraine gets nothing in Vilnius

Polish feelings should not be underestimated; Poles feel that for too long, Western Europe did not listen to their warnings about the real Russian mentality."

He said it would be perfectly legal for Ukraine to request such military assistance.

Rasmussen said Ukraine needed to receive written security guarantees, preferably before the summit but outside of the NATO framework.

These must cover intelligence sharing, joint training of Ukraine, enhanced ammunition production, NATO interoperability, and the supply of weapons sufficient to deter Russia from a further attack.

They probably think that the Ukrainian counterattack will fail...

The temptation to attack the West and capture Moscow was and remains excellent.

Will he dare to try again, and this time will he succeed?

Poland today

To counter the Russian threat, the government in Warsaw is rearming the Polish army, which was left with obsolete weapons systems from the Cold War period. Poles, however, are shouldering a heavy financial burden amid inflationary pressures and rising inflation.

Shortly before January 2022, Poland's 11th Artillery Regiment, a unit near the Russian border, received 24 South Korean-made K9 self-propelled howitzers capable of engaging targets up to 50 km. The British media outlet Telegraph recorded the excitement of its officers: "We can hit from anywhere. There is no place we cannot shoot from. Our Artillery had ancient equipment, but now we have very new weapons."

Given the war in neighboring Ukraine, the Poles are confident they can cope and fight back should the conflict reach them. These 24 new Artillery items are just a sample of Poland's massive defense spending program.

Spurred on by the war next door and growing fears that Poland could one day be targeted by the Kremlin, which wants to return to the days when the Russian Empire stretched as far as the Vistula River, the Polish government is determined to be armed and quick.

This year - in 2023 - it will spend 4% of its GDP on defense, twice the amount required by NATO.

Some of the arms deals date back to before the Ukraine war, when Poland, aware of the Russian threat, had begun to rid its armed forces of Soviet-era equipment.

Putin's invasion also led to new contracts.

The Polish Armed Forces consist of 114,050 active personnel. In 2020, the troop strength in the five branches was as follows: Land Army (Wojska Lądowe): 61,200. Air Force (Siły Powietrzne): 16,500

The above figures increase significantly in the case of general conscription.

Opinion.

History is taught, but it does not teach, and people with historical amnesia are bound, and damned, to live it again, this time as a farce.

Ultimately, historically societies are responsible for the acceptance of armed violence as a means of solving problems more than the tacit and passive acceptance of their fate;

History will end either with the final abolition of violence or of man.
